FRAISE AND FOUNDATION

 After soulful thanks to Almighty for showering His choicest blessings on me for successful completion of ' Fraise and Foundation' my English Poetry Book, within 21 days, I would like to extend my heartiest thanks to voracious global readers for constantly devouring my all literary works in multi-languages.

" Writing a book of poetry is like dropping a rose petal down the Grand Canyon and waiting for the echo", said Don, the critic.

Poetry is the world's premier human eloquence, a sheer spontaneous out flowing of sentiments, from the innermost recesses of heart and should be felt in the art of voracious readers. Poetry touches every inch of habitable earth and acquires cultural conquest. It is also cultivating culture.

I penned my first poem in 1970 and kept composing poems in Hindi and English off and on; but absolute commitment to pen- crafting poems began in 1989 and I have been treading literary corridors continually since then, composing poems in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Rajasthani and my mother- tongue Saraiki. Besides, I have trans-verted 23 books so far from Hindi, Rajasthani, Punjabi and Nepali into English as target language. An additional feather to my cap is translation of an Epic-poetry 'Lustus' from English into Hindi, which will be released shortly.

As for me, poetry is the opening of door, on hearing the knock at the door of my mind. I compose poems in fond memory of my deceased life-mate, who is breathing source of my emotions. While retaining deep link with treasured memories of past, I don't dare to ignore present and cherish hopes for a beautiful future for society as a whole. For me, poetry is reviving past, additionally an instrument of social, re awakening and a humble attempt to modify attitude of generation towards better. When, I come across chaos in society and degeneration of human values, materialism, various life-situations of conflict, struggles social, economic and philosophical anxieties,  I can not stop myself from expressing my pang and quest for change.

Many a times, our thoughts are poetic; our dreams are laced with little gems of Poetry. I just endeavour to pen-craft these dreams, with ink of emotions.

Nature in its varied moods and serene beauty always gives a spontaneous flow to my ink. Sea with its ferocious mood creates awe in mind, but in cool mood soothes us.

Innumerable rivers

Parting with their sweetness

Losing their identity

Have merged in you.

Still you are not content

Still you are restive.

When will this storm stop

Why are you quenchless

O, Ocean! 

Just as composing verses or fiction demands  meticulous efforts on the part of creator to make it presentable, translation too demands utmost attention. The spirit of content has to be captured , keeping the beauty of both languages intact. It widens literary corridors, especially when it is translated into English, as it opens wide avenues to get it further translated into regional languages and to transcend linguistic borders on international level too.

I am thankful to a Goddess of Muse for bestowing this capability on me to serve literature through my original writings as well as transversion. Hope, this journey continues with journey of my life.

I hope, you will enjoy these poems; reviews and comments from voracious readers are always a treasure for me. While you delve into these poems, you might discover a feeling of connection, unification and  identify yourself in these,  as if my pen is portraying your mind too, poetically and lyrically.
