1. PEOPLE WERE DROWNING ************************** People were drowning Just slogans of saving them Could not fetch them to bank People were in a state of shock. Just assurance of saving them Could not save their life. People were dwelling in dark Dream of fetching light  Could not turn into reality. Several persons are poking fun of them But, who will intimate them Several people are shedding tears On their laughter. I HAVE TO KEEP MOVING ************************ Their feet are not composed of  Bones and flesh, Neither any blood circulates in them  Nor they gain their existence  From any thick skin Still, while opening their feet at night They look at these with deep longing, Caress these, Even press these a little, They feel that  After carrying their burden The entire day These too, might have tired And these too, need to relax These, too, need a power nap. They show their love towards these By addressing as companion And at other times address as  Having closeness of breath.   Balloon Seller   **************  It was week-end. We planned to dine out in our favourite hotel. It is pleasant to spend some quality time with family, after a hectic week in office. Near the parking area, a half clad, young boy of about eight years was selling balloons. Multi-colored balloons seemed very tempting. And the way, in which that little boy was inviting all to buy these, seemed still more imploring. My grandson insisted on buying two big balloons. I asked him, " Is one balloon not enough for you? Why are you insisting upon two?'' The answer that he gave, simply left me dumb-founded. He said, "Granny, of course, I need only one for myself. But, I am insisting on buying two as I will love to gift the other one to this little balloon seller. He is selling balloons whole day, to render support to his family. I am sure, he does not have money to spend for buying one for himself ". Impressed by his empathy , I consented to buy two, instead of one. The gl...

FREE  FLIGHT Parent birds themselves  Guide their young, innocent Ones How to fly  Then, why after  Teaching them to fly  They instruct  Their progeny  To remain confined in cage With clutched wings.   One who is competent  To fly high Will definitely touch Own highest destination But you should trust They will never forget you Who made them capable  Of stretching wings To fly high.  Sparrows encaged in  cages Since ages Planned salvage Pleaded to fowler For release from cages Vast expanse of sky  Seemingly implored them  To break shackle But how to overcome  Fear of free flight in vast expanse  Where eagles and vultures  Too fly free with wide wings Crooked beaks, sharp paws  And vigilant eyes for prey That might snatch their iife Fowler tried to caution them But had to succumb to wish of  Adamant sparrows. Instead of taking solo flight They flied in flock Seeing their tactics  Eagles were now in a shock. It is never easy to attack  An organized army With will power  That does not care for adversities  Stands firm like rock.   Scorched Sand  ************ There is no Varicolored canopy to Provide shade Lies on bed of  Rays of the Sun There is no  Corner of solace Sand becomes gold In scorching heat only.

  UNACCOMPLISHED WISH ************************** Go to sleep With an unaccomplished wish In your eyes So that There is a reason To wake up next morning.   CHARIOTEER ************** Conflict often Dominates  Heart and mind  On the crossroads of life. We take ahead two steps Mustering some courage Then, at our own will Retreat to  Ready-made road. Why does  Shackle intention of  Performing off-beat O, My Charioteer ! Pull me out of this tangle Arouse my credence In myself. A tiff  has started  Between new and ancient I want to break shackle Melting glaciers Pure -white waterfalls Murmuring river Free birds Free from cages New expanse is Inviting me In this changing epoch You show me  Purposeful life O, My Charioteer  I beseech you  Guide me to choose Right path. *Charioteer is an  epithet  of the Hindu deity  Krishna  used in the epic  Mahabharata .

 

  AFFECTION AND INTIMACY   No one is match for mother Embodiment of love and intimacy No assets in tis world  Can compensate for her With half-awake red eyes When infant is crying And tossing in bed Playing non-stop tune of flute Or humming soft tunes for him You can try to make him sleep But there is no match for  Coziness of motherhood Patting the infant  Humming lullaby Resting his head  On her bust Caressing his hairs softly Moving fingers in it. One of the boys observed an old lady, hesitatingly standing on the road and waiting for somebody to help her cross the road. He immediately rushed to her, held her hand and helped her cross the road smoothly. The other boys asked him, “Why are you helping her? Is she your grandmother?” The boy promptly replied, “She is not my grandmother; but she is surely grandmother of some or other fellow, who is not here right now to help her.
