LOVELORN LOTUS

Image
When horizon seemed  To unite with the Earth In the dusky hours Valley seemed to be under Spell of scenic beauty Soothing breeze  Cool, clear, still water Lotuses blooming in Dal lake With their pink charm Furnished treat for eyes A lonely lotus  Seemed to be waiting  For bumblebee With soft petals  As if stretching arms  Inviting Bumblebee to embrace  The bumblebee fascinated by her charm Stayed there overnight  Got enfolded in the petals of Lotus With dawn, petals unfolded  The Lotus was in full bloom But, the bumblebee flew away From captivation    Every dusky evening The lovelorn lotus Waits for him  With extended arms Unaware of lusty nature  Of the bumblebee  But, the flirt never returns  To the same blossom again. Such is the innate nature  Of t hat creature.  Wait of the lotus continues persistently But bumblebee never returns to Same blossom again. Lovelorn lotus and flirt bumblebee Both ...

FREE FLIGHT

  51. FREE  FLIGHT Parent birds themselves  Guide their young, innocent Ones How to fly  Then, why after  Teaching them to fly  They instruct  Their progeny  To remain confined in cage With clutched wings.   One who is competent  To fly high Will definitely touch Own highest destination But you should trust They will never forget you Who made them capable  Of stretching wings To fly high. So, instead of doubt and suspicion Bless them to soar high.  Your own is sure to rest  From time to time  In shade of your affection. @Rajni Chhabra

Fluttering Wings

Sparrows encaged in  cages Since ages Planned salvage Pleaded to fowler For release from cages Vast expanse of sky  Seemingly implored them  To break shackle But how to overcome  Fear of free flight in vast expanse  Where eagles and vultures  Too fly free with wide wings Crooked beaks, sharp paws  And vigilant eyes for prey That might snatch their iife Fowler tried to caution them But had to succumb to wish of  Adamant sparrows. Instead of taking solo flight They flied in flock Seeing their tactics  Eagles were now in a shock. It is never easy to attack  An organized army With will power  That does not care for adversities  Stands firm like rock. Now fowlers too have changed their mind  Feeling happy to see cheerful fluttering wings Prefer to let the birds enjoy free flight. Rajni Chhabra  Multi lingual Poetess and Translator

Encaged Sparrow

Image
ENCAGED SPARROW ******************** Cage is her only refuge Till now, she had Convinced  herself Viewing birds  Enjoying free flight  Why, mind got confused today The bird in life-long captivation Pleaded for liberation Fowler showed mercy  And opened the door of the cage Stretching wings The sparrow endeavoured  To fly high in sky  But, could she touch Heights of the blues She shuddered  Viewing flying eagle Made up her mind  To dwell in the cage again. The style of living That she had followed  Since so many years  Could not release herself From its captivation. Rajni Chhabra Multi-lingual Poetess & Translator

Some glorious moments of past Some golden moments of present Some plans for future Accumulating as provisions  For our upcoming journey Keep moving further O, Traveller! Pathway will itself Show you path of Reaching destination. Rajni Chhabra Multi-lingual Poetess & ...

AFFECTION AND INTIMACY

AFFECTION AND INTIMACY   No one is match for mother Embodiment of love and intimacy No assets in tis world  Can compensate for her With half-awake red eyes When infant is crying And tossing in bed Playing non-stop tune of flute Or humming soft tunes for him You can try to make him sleep But there is no match for  Coziness of motherhood Patting the infant  Humming lullaby Resting his head  On her bust Caressing his hairs softly Moving fingers in it. Crossing the Road    **************** School was just over and some students were standing, waiting to cross the road. One of the boys observed an old lady, hesitatingly standing on the road and waiting for somebody to help her cross the road. He immediately rushed to her, held her hand and helped her cross the road smoothly. The other boys asked him, “Why are you helping her? Is she your grandmother?” The boy promptly replied, “She is not my grandmother; but she is surely grandmother of some or other fellow, who is not here right now to help her. So, it is my duty to help her.” Rajni Chhabra 21/10/2024   2: Every  Problem has a Solution  ***************************** I am recalling an episode of my college days in 1971.
