CHARIOTEER ************** Conflict often Dominates  Heart and mind  On the crossroads of life. We take ahead two steps Mustering some courage Then, at our own will Retreat to  Ready-made road. Why does  Shackle intention of  Performing off-beat O, My Charioteer ! Pull me out of this tangle Arouse my credence In myself. A tiff  has started  Between new and ancient I want to break shackle Melting glaciers Pure -white waterfalls Murmuring river Free birds Free from cages New expanse is Inviting me In this changing epoch You show me  Purposeful life O, My Charioteer  I beseech you  Guide me to choose Right path. *Charioteer is an  epithet  of the Hindu deity  Krishna  used in the epic  Mahabharata .

AFFECTION AND INTIMACY

Image
AFFECTION AND INTIMACY   No one is match for mother Embodiment of love and intimacy No assets in tis world  Can compensate for her With half-awake red eyes When infant is crying And tossing in bed Playing non-stop tune of flute Or humming soft tunes for him You can try to make him sleep But there is no match for  Coziness of motherhood Patting the infant  Humming lullaby Resting his head  On her bust Caressing his hairs softly Moving fingers in it. In this era of modernism Robot can not complement  Or be substitute of Human sentiments These emotions and sensations are Our pride, our identity. Glory of humanity. BOUNDLESS

Image
BOUNDLESS  **************  Boundless  like horizon At times like aromatic winds At times like showers of rain  At times like mischievous spring Abundantly filled with silvery rays  Bathed in moonlight At times enwrapping darkness  In inner recesses of mind At times, writhing like snake Swaying in its own mood Ignoring worldly ways Pendulous, fluctuating    Slippery sand like moments  An ocean of dreams and fancies  Dwells within me. Rajni Chhabra

DON'T BE SO ARROGANT

Image
DON'T BE SO ARROGANT ************************* I am an ardent fan  Of your vastness I don't have any hitch In accepting it Just like innumerable stars It is not possible to  Keep count of your waves And even more strenuous is To fathom your depth  But, O ocean! Don't be so arrogant You can sweep sand In your in your sway But, do you dare to Fight with rock? You, too , have to bear Scorching heat  of the Sun Full-moon night Makes you, too, ecstatic  You can't be master of Your own will only. Rajni Chhabra

Crossing the Road    **************** School was just over and some students were standing, waiting to cross the road. One of the boys observed an old lady, hesitatingly standing on the road and waiting for somebody to help her cross the road. He immediately rushed to her, held her hand and helped her cross the road smoothly. The other boys asked him, “Why are you helping her? Is she your grandmother?” The boy promptly replied, “She is not my grandmother; but she is surely grandmother of some or other fellow, who is not here right now to help her. So, it is my duty to help her.” Rajni Chhabra 21/10/2024   2: Every  Problem has a Solution  ***************************** I am recalling an episode of my college days in 1971.
