Encaged Sparrow
ENCAGED SPARROW
********************
Cage is her only refuge
Till now, she had
Convinced herself
Viewing birds
Enjoying free flight
Why, mind got confused today
The bird in life-long captivation
Pleaded for liberation
Fowler showed mercy
And opened the door of the cage
Stretching wings
The sparrow endeavoured
To fly high in sky
But, could she touch
Heights of the blues
She shuddered
Viewing flying eagle
Made up her mind
To dwell in the cage again.
The style of living
That she had followed
Since so many years
Could not release herself
From its captivation.

Perhaps bird wanting to be in the sky and with the sky was loosing its existence that it always believed to have.
ReplyDeleteThe existence defined by being in a cage and with grills of the cage giving her the limited view of the sky. This limited view made her the dreamer and now outside the cage she is not even that dreamer.
Could she have left the identity of dreamer before leaving the cage then she would have perceived the cage as cage and sky as the freedom and would have never come back as she finally merges with the sky.
I highly appreciate your positivity and optimistic bend of mind. Thanks a lot for this unique comment, Dear Siddharth Sardana
ReplyDeleteIt is not she has forgotten how to fly,but once she came out of cage, she realised the sea change the surroundings have gone through during her captivity, once lash green fields have been converted into jungal of concrete in the name of development, mountains of garbage everywhere, water bodies converted in to residential and commercial areas, she got frightened lest someone in the name of national security may come and clip her wings and unskin her ,that is why she went into the cage again.
ReplyDeleteAmazed at your utterly distinct comment. Thanks..Stay in touch
