ANNOYED MOON, DEWS, HACKLES, RAJASTHANI POEMS BY MONICA GAUR : ENGLISH VERSION BY RAJNI CHHABRA

ANNOYED MOON

The moon

Sitting on my table

Playing with my pen

Demanded of me

When will you scribble

Songs glorifying me

Music of moonlight

 Couplets of silence

Lyrics of love

Hmm

In getting included my verses

You will have to ignite yourself

Fumed and scorched in heat

Can you be that much red?

Can you solve---problem of hunger?

My pen versifies

Only romance of truth

That is why

It seems unpleasant to masses

Since then, the moon is annoyed

Stretching on my table

DEW

 Instantly vanish

With touch of hand

And evaporate in sand

Droplets of dew

Is it dew

Or dreams of

A youthful girl---

 SHACKLES

Shackles are shackles

By whatsoever name

These are known

May be known as **teeka-rakhdhee

Or be named as mangla-sutra, bangles

Anklets or *bichhia

But

Shackles impose

Only bondage

Whether it be of iron

Or of gold.

*  Teeka, rakhadhee, mangla-sutra, Bicchia ornaments of ladies worn respectively on forehead, neck and feet.
