RELIABLE WORDS: RAJASTHANI POEM BY NAND BHARDWAJ: ENGLISH VERSION BY RAJNI CHHABRA
NAND BHARDWAJ
IN WEE HOURS
You awake in wee hours
On your own
And start grinding
On grinding wheel
With rhythm produced by it
The home yard manages
Dawn
On its own
Without imploring anyone
On embracing morning by you
On accepting morning rise by you
Whole courtyard awakens
Hearth accepts fire willingly
Your affection is recognized by
By beloved
Holding nectar in inner-depths of heart
You are the one, who nurtures
Hope of colt of kamdhenu
It is due to your endeavours only
That cradles resound
With squeals.
RELIABLE WORDS
I am heartily grateful to
Those worthy sons of humanity
Due to whose untiring efforts
Passing through
Inhumane tortures
We succeeded in gathering
Some reliable words
Which after getting associated with
Our estray emotions
Can open new vistas
A lively feeling
And very impressive too
Like a pointed weapon
These can pierce
Heart of darkness
They can emancipate the light
That is confined in cellars
That can provide
A new vision to eyes
And a firm self-confidence
To beautiful faces
Through whom
We can make out
Intention of that ' Abode of compassion'
Translation of both the Rajasthani poems is so accurate and beautiful, and I feel obliged. Thanks a lot Rajni ji!
