I MISS BYGONE NIGHTS: ENGLISH VERSION BY RAJNI CHHABRA. POEM ORIGINALLY COMPOSED IN NEPALI BY BIRBHADRA KARKIDHOLI

 I MISS BYGONE NIGHTS

************************

Since so many days

Same hymn was being repeated

In solitary temple in dense thicket

Before completion of hymn, in a very restful mood

In a lonely night, deliberately

Pujari killed in the temple

God.

Presently , every night

I look at sky

I look at stars

And observe that

In pretext of lunar eclipse

Dogs are being beaten

And people, beating canisters

Shouting at pitch of their voice.

Sky is also not clear, these days

Days are not like days

People sleep throughout the day

And wake up

When darkness lands in streets.
