THESE PALMS ALSO HAVE DREAMS: ENGLISH VERSION BY RAJNI CHHABRA. POEM ORIGINALLY COMPOSED IN NEPALI BY BIRBHADRA KARKIDHOLI

 THESE PALMS ALSO HAVE DREAMS

***********************************

I, too, had dream

I nurture a dream

I, too, had dreamt once

The dream, I visualized was

Not visualized in dream

I  have never heard till day

That a river retreated

When big, high

Dams were built on it

Huge stones can

Turn into sand

Sand never turns

Into stone

White pigeons are

Not meant to be used for

Flying only as a symbol of peace

For this reason only

Fireflies are never

Scared of darkness
