COMPLEMENTS

 *********************

This Anthology of Verses 'Let the Birds Chirp', translated from Rajasthani into English by multi-lingual Poetess and Polyglot Rajni Chhabra is significant in so many ways.

These trans-verted poems open door of words from Hindi and Rajasthani language and shed light on culture, rituals, traditions, love for mother-tongue and motherland, natural surroundings and geographical conditions of beautifully distinct land.

Becoming a doorway,  it enlightens, educates and surfaces points of view that otherwise would be lost by a wayside. It opens up vistas, doors of perceptions into other realities.

The Poetess Shakuntala Sharma gives more than simple images that reach out through words and feelings. Her keen insight into intricacies of love is simply amazing.

Our love limitless

I asserted you are

My pure love

You asserted

You are my pure love

We used to ride in

Palanquin of love

When did we ever get annoyed

We never got annoyed

Even, if got annoyed

Never revealed it

( An extract from 'Our Love')

It is so refreshing to be able to read, understand and absorb the sentiments and innate depth of thought.

To all the winged creatures

Sitting on gazeboes...apertures

Domes....funerary monuments .. courtyard

Keen on taking flight

Let me explain expanse of sky

In their flight from

Earth to sky

Stretching wings

Knowing direction of wind

Tell them deftness of

Flying and

Retaining connection with earth.!

( An extract from  Still.....So Much is Pending)

Rajni Chhabra, I must thank you for your wonderful translations  in simple and lucid language. They allow me to share in your culture's mindset. Congratulations on your outstanding work opening doors for all of us to enjoy such wonderful poems.

Bravo! Bravo! My humble thanks.
