IINFUSED: A RAJASTHANI POEM BY ANKITA KAGADANSH: ENGLISH TRANSLATION BY RAJNI CHHABRA

INFUSED

***************

 Fasts that my mother

Used to observe

When were these

Handed over to me

I never realized

But, without fail

I observe austerity

And recite those narratives

That settled in my voice

With spontaneity

From voice of mother

Exactly same to same

I was not even aware of it.

 I am well-versed with

As many songs

As my mother knew

I catch cold exactly

As my mother used to

I, too, have headaches

Just as she is used to

My heels ache exactly

Like her aching feet

 I take meal only after

Serving meals to others

As was her routine

Maa!

When did you

Settle in me

Ditto.
