OUR ABODE:RAJASTHANI POEM BY KRISHNA KUMARI: ENGLISH TRANSLATION BY RAJNI CHHABRA

 OUR ABODE

*************

Let us move
Far away to
Distant lands
On mountains
Where nobody dwells
In deserted forest
Let us build
Our abode over there
Where only both of us live
Aloof, all alone
Between us, does nor persist
Curtain of wind
Where pigeon of our love is
Not in awe of hawk of evil-eyes

Where wind of
Pretentious customs
And traditions does not blow
Where people don't hate love
Where people are not stone-hearted
Where restrictions are not imposed on love
Where stones are not thrown on *Laila
Where *Anarkali is not wall-pinned
Lat us move there only
And build our abode.

*Laila: heroine of love saga Laila-Majnu

*Anarkali : heroine of love saga Anarkali-Salim
