WITH SUNRISE; RAJASTHANI POEM BY KRISHNA KUMARI: ENGLISH TRANSLATION BY RAJNI CHHABRA

  WITH SUNRISE

***************

Accomplishing

All the domestic chores

After Sunrise

She moves towards

Her fields

Holding bundle of roti 

On her head

And flanking infant 

Reaches her husband

Handing over food to him

Starts feeding her infant.


After completing 

All these basic work

She starts working in field

Grudging and plucking weeds

Creating boundaries

For holding water

Performing all these chores

When, day reaches its peak 

Starts cutting *siyaag hurriedly

Plucking fodder hastily

And makes a heavy bundle

Holding it on head

Her neck bends

But, she does not have any option 

Simply moves back to home

Managing somehow to reach home

She gets occupied with
 
Cooking evening meals

How much exhausted she is

At the end of day

Only she knows or her God

Such diligent are

Women of our village

Such is our village.
