RAJASTHANI POEMS OF MADHU ACHARYA

 DROUGHT OF AFFECTION

I was attached to her

With ties of affection

Hundred percent serene

But on each and every issue

I had to prove myself

This caused an acute problem

As if sand mingled in affection

Sand kept on mingling

Then, how can love survive in relations

In these modern times

Sand has thrust into relations

Life is confronted with

Drought of affection

CHANGE

As long as

Houses in village were

Smeared with cow-dung and loam

Till then, human-beings

Dwelling in these were

True to promise

Absolutely reliable

With changing times

Houses were constructed

With bricks and concrete

Marbles and tiles were

 Used in construction

Dishes for TV were installed

Cars were being parked

In front of houses

Presently, houses are stable

But, human- beings are unstable

Mud houses, staunch humans

Concrete houses, unstable humans

WHO PAYS HEED?

*****************

We had heard

And still people say so

Walls , too, have ears

So it is better to be always

Cautious before speaking

Since, last so many years

Public in Capital of India

Is shouting

Against rising prices

Farmers are crying

For sake of their harvests--

Ruling party sees all this

And listens too

But, having own will only

They are possessed with ears

Then, why don't they listen!

Raising voice

Forcefully

We have to make them listen

Problems of common people

Walls listen to all the conversation

Behind curtained walls

Then whom should a person

Rely upon

 Walls

Or ruling party
