Rajasthani Poems of Dinesh Charan : Translated by Rajni Chhabra

DINESH CHARAN

In this era of hatred and malice

I can visualize

Blooming, blossoming flowers

And merrily laughing, giggling children

O! that, this earth becomes like these

Children and blossoms

And everything else vanishes,

There is no need to save anything on this earth

If you can save, save humanity

Everything else will be saved automatically.

I crave for carefree life  as in lap of mother

On this earth.

A dictionary devoid of words

Hatred, malice, violence

I wish for this earth

That no word opposite to peace

Is created on this earth.

I PROBE FOR

I probe for

That corner of earth

Where humans are not

Scared of one another

Where stones are used

For building houses

Where fire is used

For making chapatis

Where humanity is religion

Where action is symbolic of life

I probe for that corner of earth.

CONCERN

They expressed their concern

To save environment

Sitting in air conditioned rooms

Drinking mineral water.

In the meantime

An atom of chloro phloro carbon

Finishes one lac atoms of ozone

Harvest of a farmer gets dried by the time.

They expressed their concern for

Saving creatures

Glory of whose drawing room was enhanced

By vases etched with ivory

Hide of tiger hanging on walls

And horns of stags

Colourful fishes of aquarium

And tortoise bringing prosperity

Colourful sparrows and parrot

Chirping in cage hanging in verandah

They were discussing liberation

Who had kept cages hither-thither

Anyways, this earth  will survive

Without your concern for saving.
