SOLO OX: RAJASTHANI POEM BY RAMSWARUP KISAAN: ENGLISH TRANSVERSION BY RAJNI CHHABRA

 RAKSWARUP KISAAN

SOLO OX

Scorching day of June

Room is burning like earthen oven

You are sleeping

Utterly carefree in slumber

Beside my cot

While indulged in writing

I caste a glance at you

A line of perspiration is

Via route of temple

Trickling towards your bosom

On your crane-like long neck

Nerve is pulsating

Bucket-wheel of breath is

Moving continually

Amidst all this

You yammer at times

Perhaps some dream is

Bothering you

In which you see that

Yoke of cart of life is

Thrusting deep on your shoulders

Because, you are solo bearer

O! My Anandi

I, too, am ox

But useless ox

Who composes poems

Even while awake

And you, even in sleep

Are pushing cart

 LET US CHAT

I am imploring you to

Come and chit chat

And behold each other

So many years have passed by

Living together

We always had been

Very close-by

But could never see each other

I am telling you honestly

At least, I could not see you

You know better about yourself

I have consummated you

Each and every pore of you

But could never see

Mole on your chin, whose colour

Has mingled in darkness of

My not seeing you

Forgive me

 I could never manage time

When did your teeth fall

And these grey-hair

Come sit near me and

Let me behold you minutely

lest this life exhausts during

This race of life.
