MAHENDER MOOMAL

Whenever

Times again

I read story of

Mahender Moomal

My heart aches

Tears stream from my eyes


What sort of persons were they

Who appreciated depth of feelings

And in direct eye to contact

 Deciphered whole story of love


Presently, why are we devoid of

Soft feelings of heart

Why temper of human- beings has 

Turned  fiery


Wealth is dominating over love

Heart is getting devoid of love


Feelings are being scaled by some

and some make fun of

Depth of relations


We have become harsh

Like animals .

Have transformed into 

Eagles and crows

Scallops have bowed down

Due to shameful demeanour 

Disgusting behaviour

Thatched roofs and terraces

Are shreiking

Who knows

How long such days will persist

Saga of true love will 

Remain confined

To books only.


 LIVELY CONVERSATION

Come

Let us gather

And sit again 

Under shade of Neem tree

So many days have passed

We have not shared 

Our joys and sorrows

Come

Let us unknot

Our heart today

Since, we have

Settled in cities

We have obliterated

Our streets and mohallas

We have forgotten

Taste of roti of *bajara

Baked on earthen -stove


Since long

We have not relished

Curry of *bathua leaves

Buttermilk and* raabdee

Come let us serve again today

In large brass plate 

Our rural delicacies

And enjoy conversing 

In our mother tongue

That only will keep flourishing

Tree of our hearts

Come

Let us follow our hearts

With light of sand

Moon-lit nights will

Follow again

Come

Let us have

Hearty conversation

Full of life.
