WHEN I WILL BE EXTINCT: RAJASTHANI POEM BY KUMAR AJAY: ENGLISH TRANSVERSION BY RAJNI CHHABRA
WHEN I WILL BE EXTINCT
*************************
Quiver of death
Contains innumerable arrow in it
For how long, I will be able to escape
Ultimately, I will have to surrender
In front of any of these
But, before departing
I want to peep a bit in future
After all, what will happen
When I am no more
Who will gather in my funeral
Who will reach to cry
With true-heart
On my final departure?
Who will lament beating chest
And who will be really shattered from within
Who will just pretend
Make a show off of wailing
Many of them will accompany
Till cremation ground
But will remain utterly indifferent
About my departure
Just as they were
Unfamiliar with my existence
Out of these, one or two might be such
Who are pleased within heart
With my non-existence
And among them, might be present someone
As if to repay by debt
Coz, I had attended funerals in their family
Any member of their family will attend mine
In my cupboard, so many
Bright coloured shirts are hanging
Who will wear these
Anybody, may or may not wear this
If they don't wear, what will happen to those shirts
When I am no more
In my bank account is some money
Saved by me very effortfully
And a few policies of L. I. C.
That I had taken under persuasion of agent.
When I am no more, who will use that money
And how will it be utilized
Whole claim of L.I.C., how much it will compensate
For my non-existence
When I exit from this world
Who will sit in office, on my revolving chair
Who will take bribe of my part
Who will manage, my part of work
Who will listen to rebukes of officers
And revert by abusing them in heart
When, I am non-existent
Who will bear sufferings of my part
Who will enjoy comforts of my part
Who will take restlessness of my heart
And what will happen to those
Whom I love limitlessly
And those who are attached with me
Who will occupy the seat vacated by me
I want to peep a bit , in future
What tasks will be accomplished referring my name
When I depart from here, how will be felt
My non-existence in this world?
