RETURNED BLANK

************†*******

It happened for the first time

In history of the village

That a daughter refuted

To attend wedding rituals

And wedding party had to

Go back without bride

In whole street and community

Questioning eyes were raised in unity

Questioning lips demanded explanation

How come that wedding procession

Had returned without bride

But who could ever realize

That in the village

For the first time

A daughter dared

And took her decision prime

To decide her own future

That is why

The wedding procession

Returned empty handed

With shattered pride

Without bride.

 DAUGHTER

************

Hanging on peg

The purse that was hanging

On her shoulder so far

She came and sat beside her mother

After inquiring about her well- being

Moved to kitchen

Prepared two cups of tea

For both of them

Sipping tea, Maa ushered

O that ! You were my son

In the evening, eating  porridge

Prepared by daughter

Maa again ushered

O that ! You were my son

Daughter just smiled

Lovingly, combing hair

Caressing hands of

 Her daughter

Kissed her and again

Ushered same words

O that! You were my son

Addressing the daughter

Who was reciting

Shlokas of Gita for her

Maa, again ushered

O that! You were my son

Ultimately, the daughter ushered

O! Maa, if I were your son

Then, probably

You would have been elsewhere.....

Words abruptly flashed from her mouth

Yeah!  Probably in old age home.
